Was going to test the full fall with all six dolls in after effects but the key framing was driving me crazy! So I’ve just arranged them on the floor instead, I’m going to crack on with making them in Maya then animating the fall in Houdini :)

Ideas…or…Idea?

Right, Hugo said it would be a good idea to find a metaphor for Cloud Atlas and then followed up by giving a great example of the matryoshka doll’s extract from the book that each doll represents a different period of time that encases one another. I firstly had the idea to have the characters faces on the dolls, not a gimmicky caricature but something much nicer. This ideas a soon enough shot down. Now I thought i might just have the dolls holding an item related to the story, such as the journal or Cloud Atlas Sextet or the vanilla binder. Another idea was to have the dolls appearance and overall condition to represent the period of time that the story was told, so when it came to Sonmi 415’s story, the doll would be minimal futuristic. Not one hundred percent which one to go for. Any ideas? :)
